1. Choose a flexible design You may have decided to invest in a
conservatory to use as a garden room, extension of your living space, study, work area, dining room or
playroom for the kids. Many people change the use of their conservatory as the seasons change throughout
the year. Make sure the design you choose is flexible and can accommodate your changing needs, especially
if you have children.
2. Quality A strong and reliable conservatory roof capable of withstanding
the weight of ice and snow your home is ever likely to experience, and a well built conservatory base with good
foundations and good brick or stone work to match your home are essential. The roofing system should be BBA
approved and the conservatory company you select should be FENSA registered and check the quality of the building
work at each stage of the installation.
3. Maximise your investment Research that was recently carried out by the
Halifax Building Society and by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors confirmed that a conservatory would
definitely increase the floor space in your home and therefore the value of your property.
4. Security A conservatory can be a possible weak point in the security of your
home. Give alot of careful thought to ensuring that it is as hard to gain entry through your conservatory as it is
would be into the rest of your house. If this is not feasible, ensure that there are secure internal upvc doors from
your conservatory into your house.
